به گزارش مهر، سازمان ملل متحد (http://www.hamshahrionline.ir/Manage/News/www.hamshahrionline.ir/News/?id=49181)روز 22 می را به عنوان روز جهانی تنوع گونه*های زیستی برگزیده است تا به این شکل قدمی در راه افزایش آگاهی از تنوع گونه*های زیستی و محافظت از آنها برداشته شود. هدف از نامگذاری این روز افزایش آگاهی و هشیاری درباره میزان اهمیت تنوع گونه*های زیستی، اکوسیستم، و جلب توجه عمومی نسبت به در خطر بودن این دو موضوع است، خطری که می*تواند بشریت را نیز تهدید کند.
میزان اهمیت توجه به گونه*های در حال انقراض زمین به اندازه*ای بوده است که سال 2010 نیز به همین نام یعنی سال تنوع گونه*های زیستی نامگذاری شود. بیش از 50 کشور جهان در این روز برنامه*های ویژه*ای را با حضور مردم عادی و فعالان محیط زیست در راستای ارزش نهادن به تنوع*های گونه های زیستی در اکو*سیستم و شیوه های محافظت از این دو اجرا می*کنند.
این برنامه*ها در حالی آغاز می*شوند که هشدارها درباره انقراض رو به رشد گونه*های مختلف زیستی رو به افزایش گذاشته است و به گفته سازمان ملل دولت*ها از مسیر اصلی برای حفظ گونه*ها از انقراض منحرف شده*اند. از دست رفتن حیات وحش و مناطق قابل سکونت تاثیرات سنگینی بر روی زندگی انسان*ها خواهد داشت. از دست رفتن منابع غذایی و صنعتی، افزایش انتشار گازهای گلخانه ای و سخت*تر شدن کنترل بحران فقر از جمله این تاثیرات خواهد بود.
در میان برنامه*ها، پروژه*ها و تلاش*های گروهی و فردی که در راستای کمک به شناسایی گونه*های در حال انقراض و حفظ آنها صورت می*گیرد، گوئیدو استرکندریز زیست اکولوژیست و عکاس بلژیکی حیات وحش گونه*های مختلف زیستی و اکو*سیستم را از بام جنگل*های بارانی برزیل (http://www.hamshahrionline.ir/News/?id=31159)و پاناما مشاهده کرده و اطلاعات آنها را در قالب تصاویری زیبا به ثبت می*رساند.
وی در حین تصویربرداری از کمیاب*ترین گونه های زیستی خطرات زیادی را به جان می*خرد از بلندترین درختها آویزان شده و به بلندترین ارتفاعات می*رود.
وی که به واسطه فعالیت*هایش به عکاس تارزان شهرت پیدا کرده است برای رصد کردن سوژه*های ارزشمند و در حال انقراضش بر بالای درختان مرتفع زندگی کرده و به اعماق تاریک جنگل*های بارانی پاناما و برزیل سفر می*کند.
