مشمشه يكي از بيماريهاي باكتريائي مسري خطرناك است كه اغلب سبب ابتلاء تك سميها ميگردد؛ بيماري بشدت كشنده بوده و از اهميت بالائي در جمعيتهاي اسب برخوردار است .

اين بيماري از جمله بيماريهاي مهم مشترك بين انسان و دام ميباشد.

عامل بيماري :

عا مل بيماري باكتري گرم منفي غير متحرك فاقد كپسول و غير هاگزا بنام پزودومناس مالئي ( Pseudomonas mallei ) است كه بعضاً در مراجع جديد به نام بورخولدريا مالئي ( Burkholderia mallei ) نيز ناميده شده است .



اپيدميولوژي :

پزودومناس مالئي يك انگل اجباري بوده كه بسهولت توسط نور ؛ حرارت و ضد عفوني كننده هاي معمولي از بين ميرود و بنظر نميرسد در يك محيط آلوده بيش از شش هفته باقي بماند . اسبها ؛ قاطرها و الاغها از گونه هاي معمول در گير ميباشند .

بيماري در اسب بيشتر بسمت شكل مزمن پيشرفت مينمايد در صورتيكه قاطرها و الاغها بيشتر بشكل حاد بيماري مبتلا ميشوند .

حيواناتي كه از تغذيه بدي برخوردارند ويا در محيط نامطلوب نگهداري مي شوند از حساسيت بيشتري برخوردارند . انسان نيز در زمره جانداران حساس به اين عامل عفوني است كه معمولاً بيماري منجر به مرگ مي شود .

حيوانات آلوده و يا حامليني كه در ظاهر سالم بوده واز بيماري جان سالم بدر برده اند عمده ترين منابع عفونت بشمار مي آيند .

نحوه انتشار آلودگي بدان صورت است كه آسيبها وضايعات ريوي (آبسه مانند ) پاره شده و عامل بيماري بدرون برونشيولها راه يافته وباعث عفوني شدن مجاري تنفسي فوقاني ميگردد كه در نتيجه سبب دفع ارگانيسم از بيني ودهان خواهد شد .

انتشار بيماري اغلب از طريق بلع مواد غذائي آلوده با منشا ذكر شده اتفاق مي افتد كه در اين زمينه آبشخورهاي مشترك ( آلوده ) نقش بسزائي خواهند داشت .

تماس مستقيم پوست با پوست آلوده و وسايل تيمار ( مانند غشو ) اگر چه مي تواند خطر آفرين باشد ليكن بندرت ايجاد بيماري پيشرونده مينمايد .

همچنين انتشار بيماري از طريق استنشاقي نيز ميتواند اتفاق بيافتد اما اين شكل آلودگي احتمالاً تحت شرايط طبيعي نادر مي باشد .

مشمشه هم اكنون از كشورهائي همانند آمريكاي شمالي ريشه كن شده است اما مناطقي از جهان منجمله آسياي صغير ؛ آسيا و آفريقا همچنان آلوده مي باشند .

از آنجا كه اخيراً پرورش و نگهداري اسب بويژه بصورت متراكم در حال رشد مي باشد و جابجائي دامها در اين شرايط بيش از گذشته و به مقاصد مختلف صورت مي پذيرد ؛ بروز و شيوع بيماري مشمشه در اين جمعيتها دور از انتظار نمي باشد .

در تحت چنين شرايطي ميزان مرگ ومير بسيار بالا خواهد رفت و در تعداد كمي از حيوانات كه بظاهر بهبود مي يابند ( حاملين ) بيماري ابقاء مي يابد . بندرت ممكن است حيوانات بطور كامل بهبود يابند . گوشتخواراني همانند شير ممكن است با خوردن گوشت آلوده به بيماري مبتلا شوند . همچنين آلودگي در گوسفند و بز نيز ديده شده است
