جنگ* خونین شامپانزه*ها برای توسعه قلمرو

پژوهشگران با بررسی گروهی از شامپانزه*های اوگاندا دریافتند که این جانوران برای توسعه قلمرو خود دست به جنگ*های خونین می*زنند. محققان دانشگاه میشیگان به مدت 10 سال مطالعاتی را
بر روی جمعیتی متشکل از 150 شامپانزه که در پارک ملی «کیبال» در اوگاندا ساکن بودند، انجام دادند که این تحقیقات برای اولین بار نشان داد که دسته*های شامپانزه*ها از این توانایی برخوردارند که افراد همنوع گروه*های همسایه را بکشند و با فتح سرزمین آنها قلمرو خود را گسترش دهند. این محققان موفق شدند در این تحقیقات طولانی 18 حمله مهلک را بطور مستقیم مشاهده و آثاری از سه حمله دیگر را ردیابی کنند. در تابستان 2009 این حیوانات شروع به استفاده از فضاهایی کردند که در آنها دو سوم جنگ*های خونین خود را انجام داده بودند و به این ترتیب 22 درصد بر قلمرو خود افزودند.
