بیماری لیم چیست؟

بیماری لیم، توسط باکتری Borrelia burgdorferi که اسپیروکت نیز نامیده می شود، ایجاد می شود. این باکتری توسط کنه ها منتقل می شوند. کنه ها با تغذیه از حیوانات و انسانها، باکتری را منتقل کرده و سبب سرایت بیماری میشوند.این بیماری در حیوانات و انسانها قابل تعمیم است.
در ایالت متحده آمریکا، بیماری لیم در سواحل آسیایی،سواحل آمریکای مرکزی و سواحل آتلانتیک بسیار رایج است. این بیماری در مناطقی شرجی رایج است که اصطلاحاً مناطق بومی نامیده میشوند. 70% از سگهایی که در این مناطق زندگی میکنند، در معرض ابتلا به انواع کنه می باشند، اما تنها در صد قلیلی از سگهای مبتلا به بیماری علائم و نشانه های بیماری را دارند.

نامگذاری بیماری لیم نخستین بار در سال 1975 با شیوع غیر معمول ورم مفاصل و روماتیسم در بچه ها در منطقه لیم(شهری در آمریکا) شکل گرفت. در سال 1982، باکتری Borrelia burgdorferi دلیل این بیماری شناخته شد.

امروزه بیماری لیم، نوعی بیماری ناقل (کنه، ساس و...) است که توسط حشرات و بندپایان منتقل شده و در میان انسانها و سگها در آمریکا شایع است. سگها نسبت به باکتری بیماری لیم بسیار مستعد هستند، گرچه عفونت در میان اسبها، گاوها و گربه ها نیز مشاهده شده است.
