1- سطوح بالای اوره در جیره های غذایی باعث افزایش جفت ماندگی در زایش دوم گاوها می شود . گاوهایی که 8/1% کل ماده خشک جیره ،اوره مصرف می کنند در مقایسه با گاوهایی که از اوره استفاده نمی کنند 44%بیشتر دچار جفت ماندگی می شوند .
2- کمبود برخی از مواد معدنی با عدم فحلی در گاوها رابطه دارد بطور مثال ید از طریق غده تیروئید بر عدم فحلی یا فحلی های نامنظم اثر دارد . منگنز نیز برعدم فحلی تأثیر گذار است . تخمدانها نسبت به کمبود منگنز حساس می باشند .
3- کمبود انرژی در قبل و بعد از زایمان بر بروز علائم فحلی و فحل نشدن دام ها اثر می گذارد اگر سطح انرژی جیره کم باشد فعالیت تخمدانها محدود می شود در واقع باید گفت گاوهایی که در تعادل منفی انرژی هستند به دنبال اَفت شیر دچار اختلالات تولید مثلی خواهند شد . تحقیقات نشان داده اند که گاوهای لاغر نسبت به گاوهائی که از نظر وضعیت بدنی در شرایط متعادلی هستند٬نرخ آبستنی پایین تری دارند .
4- تلیسه هایی که رشد مناسبی نداشته اند و از نظر قد و اندازه بدن در شرایط مطلوبی به سر نمی برند دچار سخت زایی شده و نسبت به تلیسه های به خوبی رشد یافته مرده زایی بیشتری دارند. بصورت یک راهنمایی کلی می توان گفت که تلیسه ها در هنگام زایمان باید حدود 80%وزن بدن بک گاو بالغ را داشته باشند .
