چرا ماهی*ها در آب مقطر زنده نمی*مانند؟

اگر یک گریپ*فروت تازه را در آب مقطر قرار دهید پس از مدتی متوجه خواهید شد که این گریپ*فروت حتی از قبل هم شاداب*تر و تازه*تر به نظر می*رسد. اگر همان گریپ*فروت را برای مدت زمان کوتاهی در آب نمک قرار دهید، متوجه می*شوید که پس از گذشت یک ساعت این میوه، شادابی و طراوت اولیه خود را از دست داده و چروکیده شده است.
آب گریپ*فروت حاوی مواد معدنی، شکر و ترکیبات دیگری است که در آن محلول هستند. این در حالی است که پوست این میوه همانند یک غشای نیمه تراوا عمل می*کند که آب و مواد محلول در آن از طریق فرآیند اسمز از یک طرف آن به طرف دیگر نفوذ می*کنند.
وقتی شما این گریپ*فروت را در آب مقطر قرار می*دهید، غلظت آب*میوه در مقایسه با محیطی که در آن قرار گرفته است بیشتر بوده و به همین علت آب از طریق فرآیند اسمز وارد میوه می*شود که این پدیده موجب افزایش طراوت و شادابی آن خواهد شد.
در حالی که وقتی آن را در آب نمک قرار می*دهید عکس این پدیده اتفاق می*افتد و به همین دلیل پس از مدت کوتاهی پوست میوه چروکیده می*شود. پوست بدن ماهی*ها نیز مانند پوست گریپ*فروت است. بنابراین وقتی ماهی را در آب مقطر می*اندازید یک جریان اسمزی از خارج بدن ماهی به داخل بدن آن برقرار می*شود که ناشی از بالا بودن غلظت آب بدن ماهی در مقایسه با آب محیطی است که ماهی در آن زندگی می*کند.
در چنین شرایطی غلظت مایعات موجود در بدن ماهی بشدت کاهش یافته و سلامت این موجود در معرض خطر قرار می*گیرد و اگر چنین وضعیتی برای مدت زمان طولانی ادامه داشته باشد، بدن ماهی بتدریج متورم خواهد شد. ماهی*ها علاوه بر این که اکسیژن مورد نیاز خود را از محیطی که در آن زندگی می*کنند تامین خواهند کرد مواد معدنی و مواد غذایی مورد نیاز خود را نیز از همان محیط جذب می*کنند.
در آب مقطر هیچ نوع ماده غذایی و ماده معدنی وجود ندارد، بنابراین نه تنها از ارزش تغذیه*ای کمتری در مقایسه با آب لوله*کشی شهری برخوردار است که میزان اکسیژن موجود در آن نیز به مراتب کمتر است، زیرا وجود مولکول*های مغذی در آب، ظرفیت پذیرش مولکول*های اکسیژن در فاصله بین مولکول*های آب را افزایش می*دهد. از آنجا که به دلیل نبود مواد غذایی و الکترولیت*ها، آب مقطر برای آشامیدن مناسب نیست، می*توان به این نتیجه رسید که آب مقطر نمی*تواند محیط مناسبی برای زندگی ماهی*ها باشد.
بنابراین اگر یک ماهی را در آب مقطر بیندازید بخصوص اگر در این محیط هیچ*گونه پمپ آبی برای به جریان درآوردن آب وجود نداشته باشد، پس از مدت کوتاهی ماهی می*میرد.
بنابراین شما تنها در شرایطی که به منابع آب سخت دسترسی دارید، مجاز به استفاده از آب مقطر هستید البته در چنین شرایطی حتما باید آب مقطر را با آب لوله*کشی مخلوط کنید.
اگرچه PH آب مقطر هفت است اما باید توجه داشت که به دلیل عدم وجود مواد معدنی که به عنوان بافر عمل می*کنند پس از مدت کوتاهی مقدار PH آب بشدت کاهش خواهد یافت.
