مكانيسم اثر:
سفتي فور از گروه سفالوسپرين*ها است. سفالوسپرين*ها از طريق غيرفعال نمودن آنزيم ترانس پپتيداز در سنتز ديواره سلولي اختلال ايجاد مي*كنند. سفالوسپورين*ها عليه اكثر كوكسيهاي گرم مثبت و بعضي از باكتري هاي گرم منفي نظير E.Coli، كلبسيلا موثرند. به اين ترتيب كه به پروتئين*هايي كه محل اتصال پني*سيلين بوده و در غشاء سيتوپلاسمي باكتري وجود دارند، پيوند يافته و احتمالاً با آسيلاسيون آنزيمهاي ترانس پپتيداز متصل به غشاء ساخت ديواره سلولي باكتري را مهار مي*كنند. اين اثر مانع از اتصال متقاطع زنجيرهاي پپتيد و گليكان كه براي قدرت و استحكام ديواره سلولي ضروري است، مي*شود. همچنين تقسيم و رشد سلولي نيز مهار گرديده، باكتري*هاي حساس غالباً ليز شده از بين مي*روند.

فارماكوكينتيك:

سفالوسپورين*ها پس از جذب در اثر اندامها و بافتها به غلظت درماني و يا حتي بيشتر مي*رسند. سفالوسپورين*ها متعاقب تزريق داخل عضلاني و يا زيرجلدي به سرعت جذب شده، در سراسر بدن منتشر مي*شوند و از آناجائيكه غلظت بالايي در خون ايجاد مي*نمايند بنابراين در فاصله كوتاهي پس از مصرف در ادار، صفرا، مايع سينوويال مفاصل، قسمت*هاي خارجي و مشبك استخوان يافت مي*شوند.

موارد مصرف:

سفتي فور در خارج و داخل بدن در مقابل استرپتوكوكوس زواپيدميكوس كه باكتري بيماريزاي مهم مربوط به دستگاه تنفس و تناسلي اسب مي*باشد موثر است. سفتي فور در درمان بيماريهاي تنفسي گاو به خصوص مواردناشي از باكتريهاي پاستورلا هموليتيكا، پاستورلا مولتوسيدا و هموفيلوس استفاده مي*شود. همچنين در درمان عفونتهاي دستگاه ادراري سگ*ها كه توسط E.Coli و پرتئوس ايجاد شده نقش موثري داشته و از آن براي كنترل عفونت كلي باسيلوز در جوجه*هاي يك روزه استفاده مي*شود. كه البته مي*بايست قبل از تجويز سفتي فور براي گله*هاي طيور ميزان تأثير آن از طريق آنتي بيوگرام بررسي و تأييد شود. از سفالوسپورين*ها مي*توان در عفونتهاي مجاري صفراوي، آندوكارديت باكتريايي، عفونت*هاي دستگاه تنفس تحتاني و فوقاني، سپتي سمي باكتريايي، عفونت*هاي دستگاه ادراري و مجاري آن، التهاب گوش مياني، عفونت*هاي استخواني، عفونت*هاي مجاري تناسلي، عفونت*هاي پس از انجام اعمال جراحي، التهاب صفاق، عفونت*هاي مفصلي و استؤميليت استفاده نمود.

مقدار و روش مصرف:

اسب: mg/kg4 روزانه يك تا دوبار به صورت عضلاني

نشخواركنندگان: mg/kg2ـ1 روزانه يك بار به صورت عضلاني تا 3 روز

جوجه*هاي يك روزه تزريق زيرجلدي 2/0 ـ08/0 ميلي*گرم به ازاء هر جوجه يك روزه كه در ناحيه گردن تزريق مي*شود.
