چرا حقوق حیوانات؟

حیوانات به اندازۀ انسان​ها باهوش نیستند. اخلاق و معنویتی که ما برای گونۀ خود تعریف کرده​ایم، در حیوانات دیگر تعریف نشده است پس چرا ما انسان​ها باید برای حیوانات حقوق تعریف کنیم و به آن پایبند باشیم؟ در واقع، ما انسان​ها نیستیم که باید برای حیوانات حقوق تعریف کنیم. تمام موجودات زنده با حقوق تعریف شده​ای به دنیا می​آیند، حقوقی که طبیعت برای آنها تعریف کرده است و ما انسان​ها با خودخواهی تمام آنها را از موجودات دیگر گرفته​ایم. انسان، قدم کج اول را چند هزار سال پیش هنگامی که حیوانات وحشی را با نام حیوانات پرورشی و حیوانات کار به بردگی خود کشاند برداشت. در طول چند هزار سال گذشته ابعاد سوء استفاده از حیوانات آنچنان وسیع شده است که امروز به هر گوشه​ای از زندگی انسان​ها نگاه کنیم مستقیم یا غیر مستقیم به نمونه​های بارزی از زیر پا گذاشتن حقوق طبیعی حیوانات می​رسیم. اگر انسان پای خود را از گلیم خود درازتر نمی​کرد و تیشه به ریشۀ طبیعت و موجودات دیگر نمی​زد امروز لازم نبود نگران حقوق حیوانات باشیم ولی به هر تقدیر ما در این نقطه قرار داریم، در زمانی که در هر ثانیه ۱۶۸۰ حیوان بعد از یک زندگی نکبت​بار در کشتارگاه​های دنیا کشته می​شوند یا در راه کشتارگاه جان می​بازند یا بر اثر شرایط بسیار ناهنجار دامداری​​ها می​میرند. در زمانی که در هر ثانیه ۴ حیوان پس از یک شکنجۀ طولانی روحی و جسمی در آزمایشگاه​ها می​میرند، در زمانی که در هر ۳ تا ۴ ثانیه پوست یک حیوان در دنیا زنده زنده کنده می​شود تا به مصرف کلاه و کت و پالتوی انسان​های خودخواه و بی​فکری برسد که فکر می​کنند پولش را دارند پس چرا نخرند؟ در همین لحظه خدا می​داند چند حیوان دیگر در سیرک​ها و باغ وحش​ها و مسابقات بوکس شامپانزه​ها، گاوبازی اسپانیایی​ها، جنگ سگ​ها، جنگ خروس​ها و غیره و غیره فدای "سرگرمی و تفریح" یا حفظ سنّت​های (چه اصطلاح جالبی برای اعمال خشونت!) بربری دیگر می​شوند.




http://www.hoghooghe-heivanat.com/images/stories/Animal-Rights-Home/chicken-in-hand.jpgدر حقیقت، وقتی از حقوق حیوانات صحبت می​کنیم، صحبت از "دادن" به معنای "اعطا کردن" نیست صحبت از "پس دادن" است و آن هم نه "پس دادن کامل". ما حتی اگر بخواهیم نمی​توانیم تمام حقوقی را که در طول چند هزار سال از حیوانات گرفته​ایم به آنها پس دهیم، ما نمی​توانیم رنج و شکنجه و وحشتی را که سالیانه بر میلیاردها حیوان تحمیل کرده​ایم جبران کنیم، ما نمی​توانیم زندگی و جان از دست رفتگان را برگردانیم، ما حتی نمی​توانیم حیوانات به اصطلاح "پرورشی" یا "خانگی" که قابلیت خود را برای زندگی در طبیعت از دست داده​اند به طبیعت برگردانیم... ولی حداقل می​توانیم سعی کنیم قسمتی از حقوق طبیعی حیواناتی را که هنوز نفس می​کشند به آنها پس دهیم و از اعمال خشونت بیشتر در برابر آنها خودداری کنیم. حیواناتی که در همین لحظه ضجر می​کشند، هنوز دم کشتارگاه​ها یا قصابی​ها از ترس می​لرزند، هنوز در کامیون​ها روی هم تل​انبار می​شوند، هنوز زنده-زنده پوستشان کنده می​شود، هنوز فدای سرگرمی و تفریح انسان​های وقیح می​شوند، هنوز در آزمایشگاه​ها لاک ناخن یا مواد شیمیایی ریمل به خوردشان داده می​شود... این لطفی است که می​توانیم در وهلۀ اول به خودمان بکنیم چون یا باید به مفهوم واقعی کلمه انسان متمدن باشیم یا یک موجود باهوش ولی مخرّب و لاابالی.
