درد مفاصل، درد كمر و تب طولاني مدت از علائم اصلي ابتلا به بيماري تب مالت است.
عرق ريزش شبانه و بوي نامطبوع عرق در مبتلايان به اين بيماري عموما ديده مي*شود.
بيماري تب مالت يك بيماري عفوني و ناشي از يك باستيل گرم منفي است.
اين بيماري ازآنجا كه براي اولين بار در جزاير مالت شناخته شده به تب مالت معروف شده اما نام علمي اين بيماري "بروسلوز" است.
اين بيماري از طريق مصرف شير غيرپاستوريزه و لبنيات آلوده به انسان منتقل مي*شود.
اين بيماري از طريق دست زدن به احشاء و گوشت آلوده حيوانات مبتلا نيز به انسان قابل انتقال است.
ين بيماري در تمام رده*هاي سني و در اثر مصرف لبنيات آلوده و يا ورود ميكروب به هر علتي در بدن، ديده مي*شود.
در صورتي كه بيماري به موقع درمان نشود ممكن است سير مزمن پيدا كرده و هيچ وقت بهبود نيابد.
موارد خود محدودشونده بيماري و حتي موارد بدون علائم نيز، در بيماران به فراواني ديده مي*شود.
راه تشخيص قطعي اين بيماري از طريق بدست آوردن ميكروب از خون، انجام آزمايش خون و آزمايش از مغز استخوان و به ندرت بافت طحال است.
درمان اين بيماري از طريق مصرف آنتي*بيوتيك به صورت طولاني مدت و حداقل طي مدت سه ماه تحت نظر پزشك صورت مي*كيرد.
از آنجا كه امكان عود بيماري به دفعات پس از خاتمه دوره درمان وجود دارد، مبتلايان به اين بيماري بايد سال*ها تحت نظر پزشك باشند.
