خصوصیات و ویژگی ها :

آن ها سگ هایی جسور , سرسخت ، استوار , دوست داشتنی و محافظ هستند .

انرژی بسیار زیادی دارند . بسیار بازیگوش بوده و از تفریح , خوشحالی کردن و بیرون رفتن لذت می برند .

دوست دارند در هر چیزی با شما شریک باشندو به نوازش و توجه زیادی از طرف صاحبان خود احتیاج دارند.

صاحبان خود را همیشه دنبال می کنند و با وابستگی زیادی که به آن ها دارند اگر توجه کمی ببینند حسودی می کنند.

آن ها معمولا اجتماعی هستند ولی به غریبه ها مشکوک می شوند . به دلیل سریع بودن در واکنش و پارس کردن نگهبانان خوبی هستند .

و همیشه صدای پارسشان مانند سگ های بزرگتر می باشد . به دلیل پر انرژی بودن به بازی وفعالیت زیادی در داخل و یا خارج از منزل احتیاج دارند .

آن ها مانند سگ هایی که خارج از منزل نگهداری می شوند نیستند و نمی توانند در حیاط زندگی کنند .

اگر خسته و یا کسل بشوند خود را با کندن زمین و یا جویدن مشغول می کنند .

در خارج از منزل و هنگام پیاده روی باید به آن ها قلاده وصل کنید به دلیل اینکه علاقه ی زیادی به تعقیب کردن حیوانات کوچک دارند .

آن ها با سگ های دیگر به ویژه دیگر داشهوند ها رابطه ی خوبی دارند اما برای داشتن رابطه ی خوب و اجتماعی با گربه ها باید از تولگی تعلیم داده شوند .

با بچه های کوچک رابطه ی خیلی خوبی ندارند و رابطه ی آن ها با بچه های بزرگتر که رفتارشان را درک می کنند بهتر است .

گاهی اوقات نسبت به انسان ها و یا اسباب بازی هایشان احساس مالکیت دارند . گاهی اوقات موذی هستند و دوست دارند توپ را بدون آنکه برای صاحب برگردانند تعقیب کنند .

دوست دارند اجازه پریدن واز روی وسایل خانه و شیطنت در هنگام بازی به آن ها داده شود .

در هنگام تعلیم آن ها باید صبور باشید به دلیل اینکه آن ها مستعد به لجبازی با صاحبشان هستند و گاهی اوقات چیزهایی را به خودشان نزدیک می دانند و دوست دارند برای یادگیری انتخاب می کنند .

به باید از دادن غذای اضافی به آن ها جدا خود داری کنید به این دلیل که آن ها استعداد زیادی در چاق شدن دارند .

موهای آن ها ریزش متوسطی دارند پس آن ها سگ های خوبی برای افردای که نسبت به ریزش موی سگ حساس هستند نمی باشند .

ویژگی های ظاهری :

ارتفاع داشهوند استاندار بین12 الی 14 اینچ می باشد . و وزن آن ها بین 16 الی 32 پوند می باشد .

ارتفاع داشهوند مینیاتور تا شانه ها بین 8 تا 9 اینچ و وزن آن ها بین 9 تا 11 پوند می باشد . موهای بیرونی آن ها سفت و کوتاه و زخیم بوده در حالیکه موهای درونی نرم تر و می باشد .

رنگ موهای آن ها بین مشکی , کرم , قهوه ای و یا رنگ های ترکیبی این گروه ها متغیر است . هم چنین در این نژاد سه نوع مو کوتاه , مو صاف و موی موجی موجود می باشد .

آرایش و نظافت :

موهای آن ها به ندرت احتیاج به شانه و یا برس زدن پیدا می کند . ولی اگر مایلید ریزش موی کم تری داشته باشند بهتر است موهای آن ها را مرتب شانه بزنید .

تاریخچه :

داشهوند برای اولین بار در قرن نوزدهم در کشور آلمان از یک سگ نترس که برای شکار استفاده می شد گرفته شد .

این سگ در دهه ی اول قرن 19 در آمریکا محبوبت زیادی داشت ولی بعد از شروع جنگ جهانی اول محبوبیت این نژاد کاهش پیدا کرد .

بعد از جنگ جهانی اول اصلاح کنندگان نژاد شروع به احیا کردن این نژاد کردن و همین امر سبب افزایش مجدد محبوبیت این نژاد گردید .

محبوبیت akc این نژاد در سال 2007 هفتمین از 157 نژاد گزارش شده است .
