گزارش شده که این میمون برای این که عطسه نکند روزهای متوالی سرش را بین دو پای خود می گذارد و می نشیند


گونه ای جدید از میمون در جنگل های شمال برمه پیدا شده است. این جانور، به خاطر شکل صورتش گرفتار مشکلی است که زندگی را برای او سخت کرده است.
پس از آن که اوایل امسال شکارچیان محلی گزارش کردند که در این منطقه جانوری را دیده اند که قبلا ندیده بودند، دانشمندان کشف کردند که این جانور گونه ای از میمون است که تا حال ثبت نشده بود.
آنچه در باره این میمون دم دراز سیاه با گوش های سفید عجیب است، شکل بینی سر بالای اوست.
بینی این میمون چنان به طرف بالا قرار گرفته که سوراخ های آن نیز کاملا رو به بالا و مشهود است.
این شکل دماغ به این معنی است که وقتی باران می آید قطرات آب مستقیم وارد سوراخ های دماغ میمون می شود و جانور شروع می کند به عطسه کردن و آن هم بدون وقفه.
ساکنان محلی که در نزدیکی محیط زیست این میمون در استان کاچین زندگی می کنند، می گویند عطسه های او باعث می شود خیلی راحت در فصل بارندگی رد آن گرفته شود.
نام رسمی و علمی این میمون "راینو پیته کوس استرایکری" است اما به زبان محلی "میمونی با چهره ای از خود راضی" خوانده می شود.
گزارش شده که این میمون برای این که عطسه نکند روزهای متوالی سرش را بین دو پای خود می گذارد و می نشیند.
بنا به تخمین دانشمندان احتمالا این گونه از میمون به شدت رو به انقراض است و از جمعیت آن فقط سیصد و سی عدد به جای مانده است که در ناحیه ای کوچک در اطراف رودخانه "ماو" زندگی می کنند.
دی سباستین، گزارشگر بی بی سی می گوید محیط زیست این میمون به دلیل قطع درختان جنگی و جاده و سد سازی توسط شرکت های چینی در حال از بین رفتن است.
