گاو ها از نوعي "قطب نما" برخو

محققان مي گويند بررسي تصاوير ماهواره اي از هزاران گاو در نقاط مختلف جهان نشان مي دهد که گاو ها مي دانند چگونه جهت هاي شمال و جنوب را پيدا کنند.

گروهي متشکل از محققان آلماني و چک در شماره جديد نشريه آکادمي ملي علوم گزارش دادند اکثر گاوهايي که سرگرم چرا و يا استراحت هستند، بيشتر تمايل دارند که بدنشان را در جهت شمالي جنوبي قرار دهند و اين موضوع در مورد همه قاره ها صدق مي کند.
دانشمندان دانشکده زيست شناسي دويسبورگ-اسن آلمان معتقدند که ميدان مغناطيسي زمين را بايد يکي از دلايل اين امر دانست.
محققان در بررسي هشت هزار و 510 گاو در 308 چراگاه مختلف جهان دريافتند که 60تا 70درصد گاو ها در جهت شمالي جنوبي قرار مي گيرند که اين درصد به مراتب بيشتر از آنست که يک توزيع اتفاقي تلقي شود.
يکي از دلايل اين رفتار گاو ها مي تواند تلاش آنها براي خنک شدن باشد.
محققان مي گويند دماي بدن گاوها نزديک به 30درجه سانتيگراد است و آنها عملا يک کت چرمي سياه رنگ برتن دارند و اگر چرخش به سمت جهت شمالي جنوبي، آنها را اندکي خنک تر کند آنها در اين جهت قرار مي گيرند.
آنها دريافتند در هواي بسيار طوفاني و پر باد، گاو ها معمولا روبه باد مي ايستند و از قديم مشخص بوده است که آنها در روزهاي سرد به دنبال خورشيد مي گردند. اما يک نکته مهم در اين تحقيق آنست که پژوهشگران توانسته اند با تجزيه و تحليل عواملي مانند موقعيت خورشيد از طريق مطالعه سايه گاوها، اثر هوا را در انتخاب جهت استقرار آنها حذف کنند.
يک استاد زيست شناسي دانشگاه کاروليناي شمالي اين موضوع را کشفي شگفت انگيز خواند و گفت که تاکنون هرگز چنين خاصيتي در گاو و يا هيچ حيوان بزرگ ديگري ديده نشده بود.
اما او که در اين تحقيق شرکت نداشت، گفت اين مطالعه کلا بر اساس قراين و ارتباط ها استوار است و براي آنکه قاطعانه نتيجه بگيريم که گاوها يک حس مغناطيسي دارند نهايتا اين موضوع را بايد در شرايطي ساخته دست خود آزمايش و تجربه کنيم.
جهت يابي حيوانات بر اساس ميدانهاي مغناطيسي در زنبور عسل و موريانه ها گزارش شده است و جانور بايد نوعي سيستم حسي ويژه داشته باشد تا بتواند ميدان مغناطيسي را رديابي کند.
يک پژوهشگر دانشگاه کليولند گفت اگر شواهدي يافت شده باشد که پستانداران هم براي جهت يابي و حرکاتشان از ميدان مغناطيسي استفاده مي کنند، اين کشف بسيار جالبي است.
او گفت مدت زيادي نيست که شروع به درک سازو کاري کرده ايم که پرندگان و حيوانات کوچک با استفاده از آن با تکيه بر ميدان مغناطيسي جهت يابي مي کنند.
در سال گذشته اين پرسش مطرح شد که آيا حيوانات بزرگ هم ميدان مغناطيسي زمين را حس مي کنند يا نه. اما بديهي است که آزمايش اين موضوع در شرايط آزمايشگاهي ممکن نبود. در نتيجه اين فکر پيش آمد که با استفاده از تصاوير ماهواره اي که در "گوگل ارث" يافت مي شود گله هاي گاو را پيدا کرد و از آنها اطلاعات به دست آورد.
تصاوير ماهواره اي مي توانند جهت شمال -جنوبي حيوانات را نشان دهند اما براي روشن شدن اين که يک راس گاو رو به شمال قرار دارد يا به جنوب، مي بايست تصاوير نزديکتري را مشاهده کرد.
اکنون محققان در صدد مطالعه روي گله هاي گوسفند، بز، اسب، گراز و چند نوع آهو هستند.
بر اساس اين گزارش علمي، روشن شده که گوزن سرخ نيز هنگام چريدن و لميدن در جهت شمالي جنوبي مستقر مي شود اما برخلاف مطالعه مربوط به گاو ها که جهاني بود، مطالعه مربوط به گوزن ها فقط در جمهوري چک انجام شده است.
