مکانیسم این دارو مشخص نشده است.
فارماکوکینتیک:
رافوکساناید احتمالاً از روده باریک جذب می*شود و حداکثر غلظت پلاسمایی دارو بین
48 ـ 24 ساعت پس از تجویز خوراکی اتفاق می*افتد. این دارو در گاو و گوسفند بطور جزئی متابولیزه شده و نیمه عمر نهایی آن طولانی (حدود 17 روز) می*باشد بنابراین اثر بخش مطلوبی بر علیه کپلکهای نابالغ دارد.
موارد مصرف:
مصرف عمده رافوکساناید در درمان فاسیلوز ناشی از اشکال بالغ فاسیولاهپاتیکا و فاسیلولاژیگانتیکا در گاو در درمان همانکوزیس ، بونوستومیازیس و لاروهای بینی گوسفند نیر بکار می*رود.

مقدار و روش مصرف:
گوسفند: mg/kg 5/7یا یک بولوس mg150 برای هر 20 کیلو وزن بدن.
گاو: mg/kg 5/7.
با یک دوز واحد درمانی ) mg/kg5/7) در گوسفند میزان تاثیر این دارو برای اشکال سنی مختلف فاسیولاهپاتیکا به صورت زیر می*باشد:
ـ تقریباً 100% برای کپلکهای 12 هفته*ای
ـ 96 ـ 86% برای کپلکهای 12 هفته*ای.
ـ 98 ـ 50% برای کپلکهای 4 هفته*ای.
اثرات مشابهی نیز علیه فاسیولاهپاتیکا در گاو مشاهده شده است.
بواسطه تاثیر قابل اطمینان رافوکساناید بر علیه کپلکهای 6ـ4 هقته*ای، این دارو در درمان فاسیلوز حاد داروهایی که منحصراً ضد کپلک بالغ می*باشند ارجحیت دارد. به منظور دفع کپلکهای در حال بلوغ که از درمان قبلی جان سالم به در برده*اند تجویز مکرر رافوکساناید در فواصل 3 هفته*ای ضروری است. رافوکساناید در درمان عفونتهای ناشی از فاسیولاژیگانیتکا 8 و 10 و 12 هفته*ای در گوسفند و گاو به میزان 99 درصد موثر می*باشد. برای همانکوس و بونوستوموم بالغ در دام و اشکال بالغ و نا بالغ این انگلها در گوسفندان تاثیر بیش از 96 درصد گزارش شده است، به نظر می*رسد رافوکساناید تا میزان 98 درصد برعلیه همه مراحل لاروهای بینی گوسفندان موثر باشد.
عوارض جانبی:
اندکس بی خطری این دارو (حداکثر دوز قابل تحمل) تقریباً 5 می*باشد و دوزهای واحد mg.kg58 در گاو یا mg/kg45 در گوسفند هیچ اثرات ناخواسته*ای ایجاد نمی*نماید. در دوز mg/kg80 بی*اشتهایی و اسهال در دام اتفاق می*افتد. مصرف مقادیر بالاتر از mg/kg45 در گوسفند و دوز واحد mg/kg 125 در گاو باعث بروز آسیبهای چشمی (کوری و کاتاراکت) می*شود. بطور کلی رافوکساناید در دوزهای درمانی برای گوسفند و گاو (برای تمام سنین) بی خطر می*باشد.
