تاریخچه

نوع کاوالیِر کینگ چارلز نشعت گرفته از نژاد کینگ چارلز اسپانیل و سایر سگهای عروسکی تیپ اسپانیل در قرون 17- 18 و 19 میلادی می باشد. در آن زمان پرورش دهندگان در تلاش بودند تا نژادی را شبیه به سگهایی که در نقاشی های به جا مانده از چارلز دوم انگلستان وجود داشت ، به وجود آورند. در سال 1920 نمایشی از این نژاد به همراه پوزه بلند تر در لندن برپا شد و سر انجام در سال 1940 موفق شدند تا نژادی شبیه به سگهای چارلز دوم به وجود آورند و برای جدا کردن آن از سایر اسپانیل ها کلمه Cavalier را بر او افزودند.

توضیحات
این اسپانیل کوچک و زیبا دارای چشمهای تیره ، گرد و بزرگ می باشد (چشمها حالت بیرون زده ندارد). گوشها بلند و آویزان می باشد دارای پوشش ابریشمی مانند بلند است که گاهی اوقات به حالت موج دار یافت می شود. در رنگهای سیاه و قهوه ای ، بلوطی و سفید ، قهوه ای و سفید و قرمز یافت می شود.

خلق وخو

این اسپانیل سگی مشتاق ، پر محبت ، سر زنده و شجاع می باشد. این سگ زیبا و کوچک علاقه زیادی به خشنود کردن صاحبش دارد و آموزشها را به خوبی فرا می گیرد. بطور ذاتی آرام است و با سایر سگها و حیوانات خانگی به خوبی کنار می آید. همه را دوست دارد و نباید برای مدت طولانی تنها بماند. از آنجایی که نشعت گرفته از سگهای شکاری می باشد به جست و خیز کردن در محیط بیرون علاقه زیادی دارد اما باید او را در قلاده نگه داشت تا فرار نکند و یا هنگام تعقیب گربه و سایر موجودات دچار سانحه تصادف نشود! برای کودکان پیشنهاد نمی شود.

مشکلات سلامتی

یبماریهای چشمی ، نافرم بودن کشکک پا ، مشکلات ستون فقرات ، عفونت های چشمی ، مشکل در شنوایی و ناشنوا شدن در سنین پایین و همچنین بیماریهای حاد قلبی که منجر به مرگ زود رس می شوند قابل ذکر می باشد ، بنابراین بهتر است تا در هنگام خرید از یک فروشنده معتبر خرید نمایید. از دادن غذای اضافه خودداری نمایید چراکه این نژاد استعداد خوبی در فربه شدن دارد.

شرایط نگهداری

برای نگهداری در آپارتمان مناسب می باشد. اصولاً در داخل خانه پر جنب و جوش است و یک حیاط کوچک برایش ایده آل می باشد. نسبت به هوای گرم بسیار حساس است.

فعالیت بدنی

به هر میزان که فرصت ورزش و بازی به او بدهید خوشحال و رازی خواهد بود. به دویدن و بازی در فضای آزاد علاقه زیادی دارد.

طول عمر

حدود 9-14 سال.

آراستن

شانه زدن و برس کشیدن بصورت منظم و استحمام یا استفاده از شامپو خشک در مواقع ضروری پیشنهاد می شود. موهای روی گوشها بلند است و اگر به خوبی شانه کشیده نشود حالت گره خورده پیدا می کند. داخل گوشها و اطراف چشمها باید بطور منظم چک و تمیز گردد. موهای بین پنجه ها را باید کوتاه نگه داشت. بعد از شستن حیوان حتماً او را خشک کنید. ریزش مو در این نژاد متوسط می باشد.
