این نژاد اصالتا از نروژ به سراسر جهان عرضه شد . اندکی خشن است که لازمه و وجه تمایز یک گربهء جنگلی است .

تاریخچه:

این نژاد از لحاظ ظاهر شباهت زیادی به نژاد مِین کون (Maine Coon) دارد. زادگاه او ارتفاعات سرد شمال اسکاندیناوی است.

پوشش سخت و ضخیم ، حیوان را قادر می سازد تا شرایط سرد آب و هوایی را به خوبی تحمل کند. در مقایسه با سایر گربه ها پرش بسیار بلندی دارد.

این نژاد حتی پیش از جنگ جهانی دوم در نروژ به معرض نمایش گذاشته شده بود اما معرفی وی به اروپا به تازگی صورت گرفته است

خلق و خو:

گربه جنگلی نروژ بسیار سر زنده و مستقل می باشد. شکارچی ماهری است و دارای پوشش ضخیم ضد آب می باشد. از آزاد بودن در باغ و حیاط و همنشینی با انسانها لذت می برد و علاقه ندارد تا برای مدتی طولانی تنها بماند.

توضیحات:

سر به شکل مثلث ، گوشهای برافراشته و نوک تیز ، بینی بلند و صاف ، چشمها بادامی شکل و پوشش مضاعف ، ضخیم ، بلند و ضد آب از خصوصیات ظاهری این نژاد می باشد.
