دستگاه عصبی شامل مغز. نخاع واعصاب محیطی می شود. این دستگاه اطلاعات حسی را دریافت ومنتقل وتفسیرمی کند وسپس به عضلات وسایرارگانهای بدن پیام های کنترل کننده ای را مخابره می نماید.

هاری:
هاری یکی ازخطرناکترین بیماری های ویروسی است که معمولا به مرگ بیمارمنتهی می شود. این بیماری اغلب دراثرگازگرفتن توسط یک حیوان هاربه دیگرحیوانات منتقل می گردد ودراین حال منبع عفونت بزاق حیوان هاراست. تقریبا تمامی پستانداران نسبت به عفونت هاری حساس می باشند.
ازآنجائی که منبع اصلی انتقال هاری به انسان درمحیط شهری سگ می باشد ضرورت واکسیناسیون سگها برعلیه این بیماری کاملا محسوس بوده ولازم الاجرااست. اولین نشانه هاری دریک حیوان آلوده وگزیده شده تغییررفتاراست. این تغییررفتارمی تواند درجهت افزایش خشونت ویا افزایش مهربانی باشد واساسا این تغییربرخلاف خصلت اصلی وذاتی اوست.
به تدریج انقباض عضلات صورت رخ می دهد ودندان های آن قفل می شوند. حرکات دام نامتعادل می گردد وکنترل عضلات ازبین می رود. دراین حال بزاق حیوان جاری است تغییرصدا پیدا می کند. ازنورو آب وغذا می ترسد وبه هرچیزی حمله می کند. نهایتا فلج می گردد ودرحال فلجی به کوما می رود ومی میرد. هیچ درمانی برای نجات یک موجود هاروجود ندارد وتنها باید به عنوان یک عمل پیشگیرانه نسبت به واکسیناسیون سگها اقدام صحیح را صورت داد ودرصورت گزیده شدن افراد به وسیله یک سگ ضرورتا می بایست به مراکزانستیتوپاستور درتهران یا شعبات آن درسایرنقاط کشور مراجعه کرد.
