سالوکی (Saluki):

منشأ سالوکی (Saluki) با گری هاند (Greyhound) یکی می باشد. 40000 سال پیش نشعت گرفته اند از منطقه ای که امروزه سوریه نامیده می شود.

سگ بی موی مکزیکی (Mexican Hairless):

سگ بی موی مکزیکی (Mexican hairless) در جنوب آمریکا پیدا شد و بسیار شبیه به چاینیز کرستد (Chinese Crested) که در قاره آسیا است می باشد ، و آنها ممکن است با یکریگر مرتبط باشند.

باسنجی (Basenji):

باسنجی (Basenji) نشعت گرفته از آفریقا است و عجیب است که جزو سگهای خانگی شناخته شده است ، باسنجی از اولاد سگهای وحشی می باشد و پارس نمی کند.

سگ وحشی آفریقایی (African Wild Dog):

سگ وحشی آفریقایی (African Wild Dog) از گونه سگهایی است که به علت شکار شدنشان بدست انسانها به خاطر شکارچی بودنشان در معرض انقراض قرار گرفته است.

دینگو (Dingo)

دینگو (Dingo) هزاران سال پیش توسط مهاجران بعنوان یک سگ اهلی به استرالیا آورده شد ، و پس از آن به جنگل بازگشست.

گرگها (Wolves):

در زمان باستان گونه های مختلف گرگ در سراسر دنیا وجود داشتند و احتمالاً گرگ خاکستری جد سگهای امروزی می باشد.

سیبرین هاسکی (Siberian Husky):

سیبرین هاسکی (Siberian Husky) ، یک نژاد شمالی از گونه اشپیتز می باشد که نشعت گرفته است از سگهای شبیه به گرگ که یکی از اولین گونه های سگ می باشد.

اولین نژادهای سگ

پنج نوع مختلف سگ ، از روی فسیل (4500 سال قبل از میلاد ) شناسایی شده اند.

ماستیف ها (Mastiffs)

سگهای شبیه به گرگ (Wolf-like dogs)

گریهاندها (Greyhounds)

پوینترها (Pointers)

سگهای گله (Sheepdogs)

این گونه های اولیه از پرورش و تغییرات ناگهانی ژنتیکی طبیعی توسعه یافته اند تا صدها نژادی را که ما امروزه می شناسیم را ارائه دهند.

سگهای نوع ماستیف تبتی در زمان عصر حجر اهلی شدند ، و بعدها در جنگها توسط بابلیها ، آشوریها ، ایرانی ها و یونانی ها مورد استفاده قرار گرفتند.

سگهای شبیه به گرگ متشابه به گونه های سگهای اشپیتز ، مانند الخوند ((Elkhond) عکس بالا) ، سیبرین هاسکی (Siberian Husky) ، کیزهاند (Keeshond) ، سگ اسکیمو (Eskimo Dog).
