در حالت عادی استفاده از واکسن قطره چشمی در پرندگان زینتی ناصحیح است

به دلایل زیر در حالت عادی استفاده از واکسن قطره چشمی در پرندگان زینتی ناصحیح است:
1-استفاده از این روش باعث ایجاد یک ایمنی کوتاه مدت و گذرا خواهد شد.

2-استفاده از این روش باعث مرگ مژک های نای (ciliostasis) می شود این اثر زمانی که از واکسن های دوگانه استفاده شود افزایش می یابد.با تخریب مژک های نای راه برای عفونت های ثانویه باز می شود.

3-استفاده از این روش فقط باعث القای ایمنی لوکال و موضعی خواهد شد و ایمنی هومورال ایجاد نخواهد کرد.

4-با توجه به اینکه در این روش از ویروس زنده استفاده می شود و با در نظر گرفتن تعاریف مختلف از حدت ویروس در پرندگان مختلف سویه ویروسی واکسن می تواند برای پرنده زینتی بیماری زا باشد.

5-در این روش امکان ویروس زنده است به شدت نسبت به عوامل محیطی ناپایدار است و امکان آنکه واکسن قبل از رسیدن به بدن پرنده بی اثر شده باشد فراوان است.

6-در این روش امکان اندازه گیری تیتر آنتی بادی و ارزیابی عملکرد واکسیناسیون وجود ندارد.

7-در این روش امکان interaction بین ویروس زنده واکسن و عوامل عفونی موجود در محیط بسیار زیاد است و می تواند باعث ایجاد عفونت های چندین عاملی شود.

8-ویروس واکسن با تاثیر مستقیم بر روی سیستم ایمنی باعث immunosuppression می شود. این اثر زمانی که با دیگر عواملی تضعیف کننده ایمنی همراه شود مشهود تر است.

9-در این روش امکان بیماری زایی مستقیم ویروس زنده واکسن در شرایط مختلف محیطی وجود دارد و ویروس واکسن مانند یک ویروس وحشی می تواند ایجاد بیماری نیوکاسل کند.

10-با توجه به اینکه در این روش امکان انتقال پرنده به پرنده ویروس وجود دارد می تواند در مکان های که پرندگان مختلف در سنین مختلف نگهداری می شوند بسیار کشنده باشد.
