اين گونه در مناطق ساحلي و اطراف جزاير مرجاني و تشکيلات صخره اي و يا گياهان آبزي دريائي يافت مي شود . معمولا" بطور انفرادي زندگي مي کنند . بسياري از آنها رنگهاي درخشان و متنوعي داشته و عمدتا" گوشتخوار مي باشند .

با گونه هاي ديگر کوچکتر از خود و خصوصا" همنوع خود سازگار نبوده و بايد با گونه هاي بزرگتر و يا به تنهائي نگهداري شود بطوريکه چنانچه دو عدد از آن را در آکواريومي که پناهگاهي براي مخفي شدن نداشته باشد بياندازيد قطعا" يکي از آن دو کشته خواهد شد .

به هنگام خواب او را در آکواريوم مشاهده نخواهيد کرد زيرا براي خوابيدن درون صدفها و شکاف صخره ها پناه مي گيرد . در تمام سطوح آکواريوم حرکت داشته و به منبع نور مصنوعي و نور غير مستقيم خورشيد نياز دارد .

هيچ شکاف و يا درزي مانع حرکت او نخواهد بود و به راحتي از تمام سوراخهاي ايجاد شده در صخره هاي آکواريوم خواهد گذشت ، بنابراين چنانچه او را درون آکواريوم چيده شده رها نموديد ، به هيچ وجه به فکر گرفتن مجدد او نباشيد چون بدون تخريب چيدمان آکواريوم اين امر تقريبا" محال است .

چنانچه به کيش سفر نموديد ميتوانيد با قرارگرفتن در حاشيه اسکله ها به راحتي اين گونه را در آب مشاهده نمائيد .
