الهام از موریانه*ها برای تولید اتانول از سلولز

در ادامه تلاش*ها برای شکستن سلولز به عنوان منبع فراوان هیدرات کربن در طبیعت، این*بار شرکت زی*کم با استفاده از فلور طبیعی معده موریانه، راهی تازه برای استخراج سوخت از این ماده پیشنهاد کرده است.


شرکت ZeaChem که یکی از تولید*کنندگان سوخت*های زیستی از توده* گیاهی (بیومس) به شمار می*رود، ساخت یک واحد صنعتی جدید برای تبدیل تراشه*های چوب به اتانول و بعضی مواد شیمیایی دیگر آغاز کرده است. با راه*اندازی این واحد تولیدی، قدم کوچکی برای رسیدن به آرزوی دیرینه تولید صنعتی اتانول سلولزی برداشته می*شود.

این واحد صنعتی با توان تولید سالانه 250هزار گالن اتانول در اورگان راه*اندازی خواهد کرد. جیمز ایمبلر، مدیر*عامل زی*کم می*گوید: «این میزان بسیار کمتر از پیش*بینی نهایی پروژه است، اما این قابلیت را دارد که تا سال 2011/1390 به کارخانه*ای عظیم با تولید در مقیاس تجاری تبدیل شود».

طی سال*های گذشته، بسیاری از شرکت*های مشابه برای تولید اتانول از تراشه*های چوب، علوفه خشک و مواد مشابه، سرمایه*گذاری ریسک*پذیر عظیمی انجام داده*اند، اما تمام این تلاش*ها تنها به دل*سردی سرمایه*گذاران و علاقه*مندان به این صنعت و ساخت چند دستگاه نمایشگاهی که توان انجام کار مقطعی و غیرپیوسته را دارند، منجر شده است.

اما فرایند تجهیرات شرکت زی*کم متفاوت است. در این فرایند از باکتری استوژن استفاده می*شود، جزیی از فلور طبیعی معده موریانه که می*تواند توده زیستی را بدون استفاده از آنزیم*های جداگانه بشکند.
