جوجه تیغی ماهی ها (Diodontidae)

نامگذاری این ماهی ها به خوبی متناسب با شکل بدن آن ها میباشد.زیرا خار های نسبتا بلندی از تمام بدن آن ها به بیرون نفوذ نموده است.این اختصاص و نیز قدرت باد کردن آن ها مقاومت خاصی را در مقابل دشمنان باستثناء آن هایی که شدیدا گرسنه هستند به وجود می آورد.از آن جا که گاهی آن ها را در معده ی انواع ماهی تون میتوان پیدا کرد باید گفت که برخی از ماهی ها از آن ها به عنوان غذا استفاده می نمایند.
رشد و نمو آن ها بسیار زیاد است ولی نمونه های کوچک تر برای نگهداری در آکواریوم بسیار جالب میباشند.از آن جا که مصرف اکسیژن آن ها زیاد است آکواریوم آن ها باید تا حد امکان بزرگ باشد.غذای اصلی آن ها را سخت پوستان تشکیل میدهند.در آکواریوم میتوان از میگو و گوشت خرچنگ برای تغذیه ی آن ها استفاده نمود.
