اسبها دنیا را چگونه می بینند؟!

ساختار و موقعیت چشم اسب از زمین تا آسمان با چشم انسان تفاوت دارد. شاید تا به حال اطلاعات زیادی در این باره به دست نیاورده باشید. اما سایت دنیای اسب می خواهد شما را با شگفتی های دیدن دنیا از نگاه اسبتان آشنا کند: با اینکه ما انسانها به راحتی می توانیم با استفاده از عینک عیب چشمهایمان را برطرف کنیم، اما این امکان برای هیچ اسبی وجود ندارد. از سوی دیگر، ما به دیدن یک تصویر واضح از دنیای روبرویمان عادت کرده ایم، اما اسبها تصویری بهت آور از پیرامون خود دارند که در آن دو نقطه کور وجود دارد: یکی درست در مقابل بینی اسب که به اندازه چهار فوت (تقریبا یک متر و 20 سانت) روبروی اسب امتداد دارد، و دیگری در پشت دم اسب که حدود ده فوت (تقریبا 3 متر) امتداد می یابد.
وقتی نقطه کور مقابل اسب را در نظر می گیریم، توانایی اسبهای پرشی بیشتر شگفت انگیز جلوه می کند. وقتی اسب به مانع نزدیک می شود دیگر آن را نمی بیند و برای پرش از مانع تنها باید بر مهارت سوار خود تکیه کند.
همچنین اسب ها نمی توانند مانند انسان یا بسیاری از حیوانات دیگر چشم های خود را روی یک نقطه متمرکز کنند. تا به حال دقت نکرده اید که اسب هنگام نگاه کردن به چیزی سرش را بالا و پایین کند؟ خب دنیای اسب علت این حرکت توسط اسب را به شما می گوید: اسب این کار را انجام می دهد تا طول کانونی را تنظیم کند؛ او آنقدر سرش را حرکت می دهد تا جسم مورد نظر در نقطه کانونی در شبکیه قرار بگیرد. علاوه بر این، از آنجا که میدان دید دو چشم اسب با هم همپوشانی نمی شود – چشم راست چیزهایی را می بیند که در سمت راست اسب قرار دارد و چشم چپ چیزهایی که در سمت چپ قرار دارد و این دو تصویر روی هم نمی افتد – این نکته جالب است که اسب هیچ گاه به واسطه دو تصویر حاصل از دو میدان دید سردرگم نمی شود.
چشم های اسب به گونه ای شبیه به عینک های دو عدسی انسان عمل می کند. اگر اسب سرش را پایین بیاورد و به سمت بالا نگاه کند، می تواند بر افق متمرکز شود. با این حال اگر اسب بخواهد روی چیزی در نزدیکی خود متمرکز شود، سرش را بالا می آورد تا از طریق بخش پایینی چشمش که قابلیت تمرکز با دید واضح تر را دارد جسم را ببیند.
وقتی می بینید اسب با یک حرکت ناگهانی در پشت سر یا کنارش از جا می پرد، به این خاطر است که دید پیرامونی او حرکت را دیده است اما هنوز نتوانسته روی آن متمرکز شود. حتی وقتی اسب در یک مسیر آشنا راه می رود، مثل مسیر اصطبل به زمین یا برعکس، ممکن است با حرکات ناگهانی حتی به کوچکی حرکت یک ورق کاغذ با باد از جا بپرد.
دید اسب در شب عموما بهتر از انسان است. در شبکیه اسبها یک صفحه انعکاسی وجود دارد که در شب به جمع آوری همه ی نورهای موجود در محیط کمک می کند. با این وجود، اسب ها نمی توانند به اندازه انسان رنگ ها را از هم تشخیص دهند. با اینکه یک اسب می تواند سبز را از آبی بازبشناسد، اما دید اسب عمدتا در سایه هایی از رنگ خاکستری قرار دارد.
