نژاد اسب بارب(barb)

اين نژاد بسيار قديمي مي باشد و از آفريقاي شمالي ريشه مي گيرد. به اين نژاد حدود دو هزار سال پيش در كتاب هاي رومی (http://fa.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%85) اشاره شده است.

از آن زمان تعداد زيادي بارب به اروپا به خصوص انگلستان برده شد. ريشهٔ بسياري از نژادهاي امروزي از جمله اصيل اسپانيايي به نژاد بسيار قديمي بارب ها بر مي گردد.

از اين اسب امروزه براي اصلاح اژاد بسيار استفاده مي شود.

اسب هاي اين نژاد داراي سري بلند، گردني متوسط و شانه هايي پهن هستند.

موهاي يال و دم اين اسب ها پرپشت بوده و سم هاي آن ها سخت مي باشند. قد متوسط آن ها حدود ۱٫۵۵ متر است.

رنگ آن ها نيز معمولاً خاكستري، كهربايي، كهربايي تيره و سياه مي باشد. بارب ها اسباني آرام، شجاع، مقاوم و سريع هستند، به همين دليل از آن ها خيلي در مسابقات غير دو استفاده مي شود.

اين حيوان در شرايط بياباني بسيار مقاوم است.
