مارمولك ها براي عبور از بيابان به مار تبديل مي شوند!

دانشمند*ان دريافته*اند، مارمولك*هاي كوچك موسوم به «ماهي*هاي خاكي» كه داراي بدني نرم هستند، براي اين كه بتوانند از بيابانهاي شني راحت*تر عبور كنند، شكل خود را تغيير داده و ظاهري شبيه به مار به خود مي*گيرند.

دانشمند ان انستيتو فن آوري جورجيا در آمريكا دريافته اند كه اين جانوران دست و پاهاي خود را به طرفين بدنشان مي چسبانند تا بتوانند حركات موجي به بدنشان بدهند و با اين شكل ظاهري جديد قادر باشند از ميان شنهاي

بياباني عبور كنند.

دانيل گلدمن ــ استاديار دانشكده فيزيك ــ در اين موسسه كه سرپرستي اين پژوهش را بر عهده داشته است،

ميگويد: اين مارمولكها وقتي روي سطح حركت ميكنند، ظرف نيم ثانيه به درون شنها شيرجه ميزنند و وقتي زير شنها رفتند ديگر از دست و پاهايشان براي رانش بدن خود استفاده نميكنند

و در عوض با حركات موجي مثل مارها در ميان شنها ميخزند.

محققان اين دانشكده از سيستم تصويربرداري پرسرعت پرتو ايكس براي مشاهده اين «ماهي هاي خاكي» استفاده كرده اند. آنها از اطلاعات به دست آمده براي تهيه مدلي از جابه جايي و حركت مارمولك استفاده كرده اند.

اين مارمولكها بيشتر در صحراي آفريقا زندگي ميكنند و چهار اينچ طول دارند.
