بيماريهاي رايج درانسان ودام به دو دوره تقسيم مي شوند،دوره پنهان يا كمون و دوره آشكار يا مرحله ظهورآثاروعلائم بيماري.
واضح است كه انسان دربسياري موارد قبل ازشروع مرحله اصلي بيماري،قادر است با ابراز مشكلات خود باعث كنترل بيماري و بهبودي كامل شود ، بطور طبيعي در دام و طيور اين چنين نمي باشد و در عمده موارد آثار و علائم بيماري زماني ظاهر مي شود كه در واقع بيماري ضايعات خود را بر جاي گذاشته است.

دراين مقاله سعي شده است درمورد بعضي از بيماري هاي رايج درطيورو دوره كمون آنها و همچنين مدت زمان درگيري يعني زماني كه بيماري به صورت باليني Course of diseases ظاهرمي گردد ، توضيحات بيشتري ارائه شود.لازم به ذكر است كه زمانهاي ذكر شده بر اساس تاريخچه گله هاي مختلف تنظيم گرديده است.دوره بيماري در گله ها تحت تاثيرعوامل متفاوت از قبيل سن ، توانائي جسمي، حد عامل بيماري زا ، وجود انگلها و مديريت قابل تغيير مي باشد.مجموعه اين عوامل بر روي حساسيت پرنده نسبت به بيماري موثر بوده عملكرد گله را متغيرمي سازد.

درجداول ارائه شده، بيماريها به سه دسته تقسيم شده اند:

1-بيماريهاي سيستم تنفسي كه سبب درگيري مجاري تنفسي ، ريه ها و كيسه هاي هوائي مي شوند و شامل بيماريهاي ويروسي ، باكتريهائي و قارچي مي باشند.
2-بيماريهاي ويروسي غيرتنفسي
3-بيماريهاي باكتريائي غيرتنفسي
