گربه ها هم آلزایمر میگیرند!

گربه*هاي سالخورده نيز مانند صاحبان پيرشان مي*توانند به نوعي بيماري الزايمر مبتلا شوند.اما يك رژيم سالم، تحريك مغزي و همراهي مي*تواند خطر اين بيماري ناتوان*كننده را كاهش دهد.
خبرگزاري رويترز از لندن به نقل از دكتر "دانيله گان مور" از مركز مطالعات دامپزشكي دانشگاه ادينبورگ نوشت " اكنون ما مي*دانيم كه گربه*هاي سالخورده ما نيز مانند انسانهاي مسن، در معرض خطر دچار شدن به اين مشكل هستند.
بيماري آلزايمر، علت اصلي فراموشي در سالمندان است و در سراسر جهان ‪ ۱۲‬ميليون نفر گرفتار آن هستند. تجمع غيرعادي پلاك*هايي از جنس پروتئين هايي به نام آميلوييد در مغز بيماران مبتلا، مانع از پردازش پيامها در مغز مي*شود.
گان مور زماني كه در گربه هشت ساله*اش علائم پيري را مشاهده كرد، به فكر تحقيق در اين زمينه افتاد و پس از تحقيق به همراه پژوهشگراني از اسكاتلند و كاليفرنيا دريافت پروتئين*هايي مشابه آنچه در مغز انسانها تجمع مي*كند، در مغز گربه*هاي مسن نيز پلاك به وجود مي*آورد .
در اين تحقيق، آزمايشهاي خاصي روي مغز گربه*هاي مرده انجام گرفت.
اين محقق گمان دارد كه ديگر حيوانات، از جمله سگ نيز مي*توانند دچار آلزايمر و ديگر شكل*هاي فراموشي شوند.
تنها در انگلستان ‪ ۹‬ميليون گربه خانگي وجود دارد كه حدود يك سوم آنها پير هستند
اكثر گربه*ها زماني كه به هفت سالگي مي*رسند، نسبتا سالمند و در سن ‪۱۲‬ سالگي كاملا سالخورده محسوب مي*شوند.
كوتاه*تر بودن عمر گربه نسبت به عمر انسان به پژوهشگران امكان مي*دهد كه با سرعت بيشتري آثار رژيم غذايي، فشار خون بالا و داروهاي تجويز شده در اثناي بيماري را روي آنها ارزيابي كنند.
