کشف عامل ژنتيكي كم خوني را در بيماري مالاريا

دانشمندان پروتئيني به نام ام.آي.اف (‪ (MIF‬را كشف كرده*اند كه به نظر مي*رسد مانع از توليد گلبول قرمز خون در مبتلايان به مالاريا مي*شود.

نيش پشه انگل، پلاسموديوم را وارد خون مي*كند و پلاسموديوم در گردش خون به كبد و گلبول*هاي قرمز خون حمله كرده و به تكثير خود مي*پردازد. هنگامي كه گلبول*هاي قرمز خون شكسته مي*شوند، پلاسموديوم آزاد شده و ساير سلول*ها را آلوده مي*كند، دستگاه ايمني بدن براي از بين*بردن سلول*هاي مبتلا فعال مي*شود و شمار كلي گلبول*هاي قرمز خون كاهش يافته که موجب بروز كم خوني مي*شود.

با اين وجود به گفته دكتر "مايكل اي. مك دويت" از دانشكده پزشكي "جان هاپكينز" تنها افرادي كه مالاريا مي*گيرند به كم خوني شديد و جدي مبتلا نمي*شوند. شواهدي زيادي وجود دارد كه نشان مي*دهد ساختار ژنتيكي خاص اشخاص مي*تواند بر شيوع كم خوني ناشي از مالاريا تاثير بگذارد.

اين مطالعه نشان مي*دهد كه پروتيين ‪ MIF‬به وضوح در كم خوني شديد نقش دارد و نظريه*هاي جديدي را براي درمان*هايي كه مي*تواند مانع از فعاليت اين پروتيين در مبتلايان به مالاريا شود، مطرح مي*كند.

مشروح اين مطالعه در مجله "‪ "Journal of Experimental Medicine‬منتشر شده است.
