حافظه قدرتمند بويايي در كرم*ها

دو دانشمند فرانسوي و آمريكايي موفق شده*اند به راز حافظه بويايي قدرتمند يكي از انواع كرم*ها كه مورد توجه زياد زيست شناسان است پي*ببرند.

اين كرم اگر در دوران اوليه*اي كه هنوز در حالت شفيره قرار دارد در برابر بوي مواد غذايي قرار داده شود آنگاه تا مدتهاي مديد در برابر اين بو واكنش نشان خواهد داد.

دانشمندان به طور نمونه مشاهده كرده*اند كرمهاي بالغي كه در دوران شفيرگي و در زماني كه هنوز در ليسه قرار داشته*اند با بوي "بنزال دي هايد" آشنا شده*اند، در بزرگسالي و در هر هنگام كه با اين بو، كه شبيه بوي نوعي شيريني توليد شده از شكر و بادام و سفيده تخم مرغ است، برخورد مي*كنند در برابر آن واكنش نشان مي*دهند و بر سرعت تخم*گذاري خود مي*افزايند و به طرف منبع اين بو روان مي*شوند.

به نوشته هفته نامه علمي "ساينس" ، "ژان ژاك رمي" از موسسه زيست شناسي رشد در مارسي فرانسه با همكاري "اوليور هوبرت" از دانشگاه كلمبيا در نيويورك موفق شده*اند پروتييني را كه در اين فعاليت تشخيص بويايي نقش دارد شناسايي كنند.

اين پروتئين "اس آر آ-‪ "۱۱‬نام دارد و با يك مجموعه از گيرنده*هاي بويايي مرتبط است، اما اثر خود را در ارتباط ميان سلولهاي عصبي و در هنگامي كه اين سلولها به يكديگر متصل مي*شوند آشكار مي*كند نه آنكه به طور مستمر بر روي سلولهاي عصبي فعال باشد.

دانشمندان هنوز نتوانسته*اند كاركرد دقيق اين پروتيين را تشخيص دهند
