کشف یک مکانیزم جدید تنظیم ژنتیکی

گروهی از دانشمندان آلمانی با بررسی microRNA موفق شدند مکانیزم جدیدی را کشف کنند که ژنها را تنظیم می کند.

به گزارش خبرگزاری مهر، محققان مرکز بیولوژی گیاهی دانشگاه فریبورگ دریافتند که microRNA می تواند مستقیما با ژنها تماس برقرار کرده و فعالیت آنها را متوقف کند. به گفته این دانشمندان RNA پیام رسان از روی ژنهای فعال رونویسی می کند و این رونویسی را به ریبوزمها برده و این اندامکهای سلولی از آنها برای تولید پروتئینها استفاده می کنند.
در زمان توسعه و در شرایط مختلف محیطی، تعادل میان ژنهای فعال و غیرفعال برقرار می شود اما تغییر این تعادل می تواند منجر به بروز بیماریهای ژنتیکی شود. در سال 2006 کشف شد که در باکتری C. Elegans زنجیره های کوچک RNA می توانند به مولکولهای RNA پیام رسان حمله کنند و به این ترتیب بر روی فعالیت رونویسی ژنها اثر بگذارند. براساس گزارش مجله سلول، اکنون این محققان کشف کردند که فعالیت microRNA به خاموش کردن غیرمستقیم ژنهایی که توسط RNA پیام رسان رونویسی شده اند محدود نمی شود بلکه این مولکولها قادرند مستقیما با ژنها تماس برقرار کنند.
در این فرایند، ژنها از طریق اضافه شدن گروههای بنیان "متیل" خاموش می شوند. کشف این مکانیزم جدید تنظیم ژنتیکی می تواند کاربردهایی در عرصه ژن درمانی داشته باشد.
