زيستگاه اصلي: آفريقا ؛ رودخانه های کنگو ، زامبزی ، نیجر ، سنگال ، اکاوانگو و دریاچه تانگانیکا

حداكثر اندازه: نرها تا 105 سانتيمتر و ماده ها تا 70 سانتيمتر رشد مي كنند.

حداكثر وزن گزارش شده : 28 کیلوگرم

طول عمر: 8 سال

تشخیص جنسیت: همانطور که در اندازه ماهی اشاره شد، ماده ها کوچکتر از نرها هستند.

رفتار: مهاجم هستند. این ماهی ها ندرتا" به عنوان ماهی آکواریومی نگهداری می شوند.

سازگاری: آنها همه چیز را می خورند. اگر به این فکر افتاده اید که در آکواریوم منزلتان یکی از این ماهی ها را نگهداری کنید، بدانید که در نهایت هر چه را که با او در تانک باشد خواهد خورد.

سطح مراقبت: میانه

تغذیه: گوشتخوارند. از ماهی های کوچک و سخت پوستان مثل میگوی روح / شيشه اي و نیز میگوهای بزرگی که انسانها برای خوارکشان صید می کنند ، تغذیه می کنند اما در کل هر آنچه را که برایشان حکم طعمه داشته باشد خواهند خورد.

شرایط تانک: به تانکی بزرگ با حجمي شاید بیشتر از 1000 گالن / 3785 لیتر كه مجهز به فيلتری قوی باشد ، نیاز دارند.

سطح شنای ماهی: وسط

دکور تانک: از صخره ها و دکورهای چوبی به همراه گیاهان استفاده کنید.

وضعیت نور تانک: در حد متوسطی باشد. نه خیلی روشن و نه خیلی تاریک

درجه حرارت: 72 تا 82 درجه فارنهایت / 22 تا 28 درجه سانتیگراد
