کشف نوع جديدي RNA

گروهی از دانشمندان به سرپرستی ديويد بارتل از انستيتو تکنولوژی ماساچوست، گروه جديدی از مولکول RNA با نام 21-U-RNA کشف کردند. سال*های اخير دوره کشف نقش مهمتر RNA در ژنوميکس بوده و رفته رفته اهميت اين مولکول فراتر از نقش واسط اطلاعاتی بين DNA و پروتئين سازی عنوان می*شود. در اين تحقيق، با مطالعه بر روی نماتد C. elegans، بيش از ۵۰۰۰ مولکول جديد RNA به دست آمد و اين مولکول*های جديد 21-U-RNA ناميده شدند. اين RNAهای جديد به اين خاطر به اين نام خوانده شدند که هر مولکول، ۲۱ نوکلئوتيد طول داشته و همه آنها با اوريدين (U) شروع می*شوند. نکته جالب اين است که همه اين مولکول*ها از يک يا دو ناحيه خاص کروموزوم نماتد حاصل می*شوند. گرچه هنوز فعاليت خاصی برای اين دسته جديد از مولکول*های RNA کشف نشده ولی ساختار مشابه آنها، حکايت از نقش مهم آنها دارد.
