رابطه استعداد ژنتيکي با ابتلا به جنون گاوي

محققين سرويس تحقيقات کشاورزي (ARS) آمريکا در حال تحقيق جهت يافتن رابطه ميان وراثت و استعداد ژنتيکي و احتمال ابتلاي گاوها به بيماري جنون گاوي هستند و جهت اين موضوع 192 گله گاو به نمايندگي از 16 نژاد رايج گاوهاي گوشتي و 5 نژاد رايج گاوهاي شيري در آمريکا، مورد تحقيق و بررسي قرار گرفته اند.
راي اين منظور چندين زيست شناس مولکولي، PRNP را در گاوهاي مذکور مورد آزمايش قرار دادند تا ارتباط ميان پروتئين پريون با چگونگي و يا استعداد دامها به ابتلا به بيماري جنون گاوي بدست آورند. در همين رابطه و پس از آزمايشات مورد نظر حدود آنان توانستند از 192 گله مورد آزمايش حدود 388 گونه و شکل مختلف پروتئين پريون را شناسائي کنند که از اين تعداد حدود 287 شکل از آنها تا پيش از اين ناشناخته بودند که برخي از آنها مي توانند بر ميزان استعداد ژنتيکي گاوها در ابتلا به بيماري جنون گاوي موثر باشند.
مچنين مقايسه ميان PRNP در گاوهاي مبتلا و گاوهاي سالم محققين را قادر مي سازد تا بتوانند شاخصهاي ژني موثر بر استعداد گاوها در ابتلا به بيماري جنون گاوي را در پريون شناسائي کنند. با اينکه شيوع بيماري جنون گاوي در آمريکا به طرز محسوسي پائين است اما با اين حال اين تحقيقات مي توانند به افزايش دانسته هاي جديد در مورد اين بيماري کمک کرده و صنعت گاوداري را در مواجه با بيماري هاي ديگري از اين نوع که ممکن است در آينده رخ دهند، تقويت نمايند. شايان ذکر است، BSE) BOVINE SPONGIFORM ENCEPHALOPATHY) يا بيماري جنون گاوي يک اختلال عصبي کشنده است که بواسطه اختلال در عملکرد پروتئين هاي پريون بوجود مي آيد. (پريون پروتئيني است که به طور طبيعي در سيستم عصبي پستانداران وجود دارد).
